Shakila Rafiq is a well known Urdu short story writer currently based in Toronto, Canada. Her style of story telling does not only articulate the thoughts, but also the images. She knows the art of story telling and avoids using weighty words and unfamiliar symbols.

Born in Sitapur (U.P) Shakila Rafiq did her Masters in Urdu from Karachi University. She worked in Pakistan Airlines for about seven years. She has to date six collections of short stories to her credit.

If you meet her in cultural and literary programmes, she gives the impression of serious, quiet intellectual interested in learning more and more about our arts and culture. if you see her in her office, she appears to be a typical working woman seriously interested in her official assignments with little time to either talk about literature, economics or politics which becoming the order of the day.
